Ghostrunner Review (Dudley Stokes)

I want to like this game. I really do. Everyone else likes it. Sekiro is my favorite all time game— I enjoy hard, challenging games. This game is not that. This game is annoying. I understand the point is to die, die again, die 5 or 6– 20 more times, memorize everything, and then have one, singular glorious speed run of smooth slashes and precision and dashes, etc. you are supposed to master every single encounter in every step of every single level. I don’t like that. After a while, I want to feel like a bad ass cyber ninja. I don’t want to feel like a paper thin crack head, frantically bouncing off of walls hoping I don’t get shot ONCE in the back by the half a dozen enemies who have twitch reflexes and aim assist. They’re they badasses. I’m not. That’s not what a game is supposed to make you feel like.
At best, it feels like a frantic button smashing hysteria try to get through some of these levels. I have yet to get a whif of the satisfaction everyone else gets going through the levels of this game.
While playing it, all I could think was “thank god I bought it while on sale.”
