Gensokyo Night Festival Review (Weeby)
The game has a really fun combat and movement system thats very unique, flashy and all around enjoyable to use. The pixel art is INCREDIBLE and super pretty, very clean and well done! Music is fire, because well, its Touhou music of course it is.
My only complaint about the game, is that, in my opinion, only the first 30 minutes or so of the game was actually enjoyable for me. The first 30 minutes has a nice open area to explore with little collectibles and secret areas to find, along with some very funky boss fights... but after thats done and you go to the new area, its like the game has been rushed, badly. All the secret areas are gone and theres no more collectibles other than two or three hidden characters around for you to greet, but that means that all you end up doing is mindlessly grinding through enemies until the next boss because there is no more reason to really look around for anything anymore. The bosses themselves are actually good and are the redeeming factors for the rest of the areas but it feels like so much creativity was lost beyond that.
Even so i will still recommend because the game has a lot of potential as is a genuinely enjoyable game at its base. I hope that the next updates they do will give more to exploration a bit and not just more mindless attacking enemies, with flashy boss fights.
