Fuga: Melodies of Steel 3 Review (John Normalman)

tl;dr 9/10. It's great, and the entire trilogy is worth playing. You don't need to play 1 and 2 before playing 3, but you really should, because they're great games! And as always, play with the French dub.
Fuga 3 delivers on the plot points and mysteries set up in the first two games while keeping its cards close to its chest. CC2 has a vision for this world, and they're fine showing you glimpses in the scope of what they're currently focusing on. Fuga 1's gameplay was solid but straightforward, and 2 innovated on that foundation by making every party member more situational, thus more useful when you actually need them. Fuga 3 builds on that mechanically, and delivers an addictive gameplay experience that has you constantly cycling through your best option in any encounter.
There's so much to say about the story, but the best way to sum it up is that it's the culmination of the themes and ideas built up from Fuga 1. If you didn't play the first two games you'll still understand the plot in broad strokes, but if you've followed this trilogy up to now, you'll feel it as the conclusion of the journey you've been on since these kids got in that tank to go save their parents from dog Nazis.
All in all, I really enjoyed my time with Fuga 3, and I'd heartily recommend all three Fuga games to any fan of turn-based RPGs, because its story is compelling, and the gameplay is simple but engaging and can have surprising depth to it the further you make it in.
