FTL: Faster Than Light Review (SkullValkyrie)

Amazing "simple" strategy game, you can play in unique ways and has perfect+ amount of content for base price alone.
Can be hard, but you get better with replays, not the best balance persay but its okay. Do note even easy difficulty can be a bit hard at times, you will die its apart of the game and you will pick up strats as you play.
Here is the secret though to get the fullest out of this game though. This game has one of the best expansion mods I have ever seen called 'Multiverse' (a LOT of reading though if thats an issue for you). I just started it and let me tell you its filled to the fucking brim with content and flexible play-styles, You want to teleport 4 hungry fully aged alien spiders into the poor fuckers pilot seat and watch them reduce the crew to dirt in seconds? Yep though you cant control them consistently(their are ways to fix that btw) but god fucking help the 2 poor slugs that teleport onto my ship filled with 6+ elder spiders. You can build on the fly things like respirators or the ship wide nanoheal and even drone recovery arm that all dont take augment slots and a laboratory you can make to add race specific upgrades like making said spiders better for passive ship use or full commit to boarding. Base FTL is a 8 or 9/10 game, but FTL: Multiverse is peak 9.5/10 for its content. How much content? Base FTL has one page of ships with A, B, C variants but Multiverse has 18 with most of them having Bs and Cs too, base FTL has like 8 races but Multiverse has at *LEAST* 14(probably more). Not so many more comapred to ships right? Wrong, their are MANY subraces like on average 4-5 each usually with different abilities like dropping stun bombs or cloaking as well as balancing tweaks.
And a lot more interactivity, you can kill on sight for pretty much any encounter. And ofc a reputation system to go along with doing good or bad and get hostile attention for I dont know lets say wiping every trader off the face of the sector maps.
My tips is *I think* you need to crew kill\ a bit to get a fair portion of ships which if its a unique especially in a quest(infact sometimes you can pick sides and you can do the other side to get another ship in a different timeline or at least one quest is like this) if you crew kill you will probably get it like the spider ship, but crew killing without boarding is pretty viable now especially now that shield piercing is a stat, I had a long flame beam that pierced 2 shields and I had so fucking much fun.
That and CHECK THE STORAGE for all the upgrade options because your not gonna find a lot of augments anymore because they are now craftable and all in there(reconstructive tele ect ect).
Some examples:
Engies often come in their toggle nano-swarm varient that lets them walk through wall(doors have an internal craftable upgrade to counter this) and ignore oxygen at the cost that they cant repair or fight in that state but they can man, you see where that goes?
One race are a bunch of plants and their main subrace lets them generate oxygen so you can vent your entire ship and just have them fill nearby rooms as needed.
You can use the lab and craft 1 of 3 crew upgrades for Lanius crew to have them move at half speed yet drain oxygen 2x faster or choose another one that gives them 35% extra health and quarters their drain speed.
Theirs one race I saw on the Spider B ship that I think can morph and change into other races too. Edit: Yes, and the gimmick of that ship is that you can hatch more mimic spider babies to morph.
Their is a new augment slot called combat augments and they can do stuff at the cost of reactor power like shutting off enemy systems for a time or even indefinite like oxygen.
Dont worry about the mod at first even I jumped into it a bit early at like 75 hours, just play base FTL and once your ready for whats basically a sequel thats, go ahead and check the download steam guide and try the mod, full trust the mod is fucking insane and makes meme builds(a lot of ships have them) way more viable:fire/Ox/straight weapon crew killing and rockets especially(check internal weapon upgrades for replicator). And yes, so so much blue text solutions and QoL like it giving you a estimated Rebel jump range and numbered them.
