I grew up playing this game in the early 2000's and I loved it as a kid. Humongous Entertainment is well-known for it's quality kids games that are well-made and have tasteful humor and high production values. Even for something made in 1998 it looks amazingly gorgeous and the wholesome, colorful art-style and playful characters are very fun for kids to engage with.
The world is very interactive and while it's not strictly educational, it has fun puzzles and riddles to solve that aren't too taxing for a kid but are fun and stimulating to play with. It also has some creative mini-games and optional art-making studios if your kid wants to just spend time making a silly looking character. If you're looking for a good game for your kid that is tasteful and has good tongue-in-cheek humor then you can't go wrong with the Freddy Fish series as it's one of the best early-childhood entries out there.
