Fort Solis Review (YogiBandit00)
KEY POINTS of my long review:
Great graphics, great acting, controls hinder gameplay, camera view is annoying, Story is a bit lacking but not terrible, not worth full price but worth checking out on sale, less than 6 hours of gameplay.
Detailed opinions
Story 8/10 : Incredible idea for an edge of your seat story that just wasn't delivered in the best way. It's not bad it just feels like it's missing a good amount. The ending is just your run of the mill thriller movie ending but really my main complaint is how quick the story/game is. 100% completion in less than 6 hours and that's coming from me, a very slow player lol. A longer story would probably solve the issues I had with it.
Graphics 10/10 : Beautifully designed environments and the character designs are incredible!
Acting 10/10 : They did such a great job at making everything seem so natural. The facial expressions, the tones in peoples voices, the script etc. Great work.
Gameplay 5/10 :
Camera view is too close to the character. It's like they couldn't decide between first person or 3rd person and decided to give you the feeling of sitting in a movie theater with a fat 7'3 dude sitting in front of the screen. Like I'm sure the visuals are awesome, sure wish I could see them beyond this dudes freaking back. You get used to it but it is annoying as hell.
Controls are immensely stupid. Play it with keyboard or controller, doesn't matter you'll hate it. You feel so restricted the entire time which makes 0 sense being in an environment meant for investigation and exploration. ALSO why TF can't you run? I get that running would make the game even shorter but in the situation these characters are in, they would realistically be running for their life. Again you get past it but seriously makes no sense.
OVERALL : It is a good game and a good display of what the creators are capable of, referring to the visuals and acting, had they spent more time on their story or at least just added more. I would not pay full price. This isn't worth more than 10 bucks imo.
I really hope to see these guys make more games, I just hope they hear the players' opinions because they really do have the ability to be top tier creators.
