Forgive Me Father 2 Review (Jukebox, Destroyer of Worlds)

It starts out good, and then it really takes a nosedive. The levels are more akin to surrealist art in practice because of their absurd layout designed to maximize playtime. Each level takes half an hour to complete while being in a rather limited setting. A school with 10 rooms should not have been a half hour level.
The game starts throwing a needlessly large amount of enemies against the player at, quite literally, every turn. the game introduces all of the weapons and enemy types rather early, too, so it quickly loses its charm and becomes monotonous. As fun as the core game play can be, it becomes too much and the game would have benefited from utilizing more restraint in my opinion.
The biggest gripe I have is that, despite the fact the player is fighting zombies, almost every enemy type has a ranged attack. The effect is that the "zombie" setting is quickly lost.
I had thought that the game was a unique twist on the boomer shooter formula: you have limited ammo, and need to make every shot count, while staying mobile because enemy melee attacks damage you immensely. Of course 1 or 2 ranged enemies thrown in to keep the player moving and keep things interesting. That is how the first chapters played out, and it was fun.
Instead, however, what happens is the game still gives you limited ammo, but now you need to deal with zombies that have sub machine guns, anti-personnel ordinance, and magic mini-guns. The game eventually starts throwing too many of these guys in one section and it becomes too much in my opinion. Was it really necessary to have 2 different types of enemies that had the same ranged "spit attack", and another 2 different "machine gun" enemies?
The game has high production value, a very good looking art style, and is very fun for the first few hours. After that, I would not recommend continuing personally. Absolutely, however, get it on sale, because those first few hours are amazing. After that, it really just loses itself. It would be like playing Left For Dead 2 but all the special zombies just have the same attack as the Spitter.
All that being said, what an amazing art style, production value, and soundtrack! I think you guys did a great job with that. :)
