Forever Skies Review (Lesley64)

This will be more of a negative review *for now* as I plan on updating it later on when, hopefully, the state on some of its problems are resolved:
TL/DR: Absolutely great game, but performance issues are unsustainable and the game seriously lack some better UI/QoL on some areas that, over time, really impact your playthrough. I would seriously consider those before buying.
This game is actually REALLY good. For the most part, its very innovative, has good basebuilding, good graphics, some really cool mechanics and it does that thing that everybody always wanted: The possibility of literally driving your in-game base. Its literally the point of the game, to use your blimp to move around and upgrade it little by little.
Some parts of the process can definitely feel confusing, specially the beginning. It sets you free after the tutorial and barely explain anything else until you actually start reaching wind farms and other new types of locations that unlock SO MUCH of the rest of that the game has to offer.
Right now, thats the main problem I see in it though. Its usability in some of its concepts is.. soooo poor. Like building and moving things around can become such a hassle when you have to constantly *remove attachments*, which means, remove the things that are above or in this structure first. It creates this boring loop of, let me carefully select each of these chests and signs that I placed on this one storage support so that I can then move it. Now, move all of those *attachments* back into it.
It lacks some UI functions/QoL that games like Grounded got it out of the park. Small things that become incredibly annoying later, like shift your mouse a millimeter to the side for the pick up/move item pop up appear on a planter instead of collecting the plant or things like that. IT IS A PAIN. And dont even let me start on the whole pipe and irrigation system.
I have an anxiety attack when I think I have to change my irrigation system layout one more time. HOLY MOLY.
But now, the biggest culprit of it all and the reason I am writing a negative review: PERFORMANCE.
Sorry devs, your product is soooo dang good, but the performance NEEDS to be better. The undersdust sections are so bad.. I have a good computer. Not a high end, run star citizen smiling computer, but a good one nonetheless. Yet it struggles to run most underdust sections over 40 fps. It struggles to run the whole game on a good framerate.
Right now I just reached the second important undersdust section and the game is unplayable. It crashes, it lags, it freezes, its insane. And no graphical settings change anything.
Pleease.. fix this. All these nanomanagement and lack of better UI/QoL and terrible performance issues are ruining your game
PS: It seems a bunch of setting are cramped inside post-processing. Huuge mistake devs.
EDIT: The devs recently release a hotfix focusing a lot on improving performance. And it really did! I feel they really understand how bad of a problem it is and they seem dedicated to fixing it. I will keep the review negative for now, until I see either the next major patch or 1.0 .
