Food Truck Simulator Review (Sanne)
This game is freaking amazing. I don't understand the negative reviews at all, if you want automation go play Factorio. The most recent updates in the game should address all if not most problems about inventory management and user interface friendliness etc.. The ability to create your own menu also lets you skip the orders you don't love to make!
I've been straight up obsessed with this game and can't stop playing lol. I love the mild stress from the timer, the complexity of figuring out how to manage the orders as they come in while having multiple orders going at the same time already, and finding the most efficient ways possible to complete a recipe without messing it up. The story is cute, wholesome and inspiring (with unexpected shocking events!), with good voice acting throughout. The driving physics make me laugh because they can be slightly janky, and the hit boxes don't always make visual sense, but driving isn't the main part of the game so it doesn't bother me too much.
For the most part of the game you're only competing with yourself. There are some fun side missions to play if you want to do something else for a bit or need some more cash. The freshness indicator is a great addition to the game, it forces you to be thoughtful with inventory management and spending your money.
The only thing that confused me a little is the sandbox mode. You start out without upgraded equipment and a limited budget, the only thing that's missing is the story aspect. To me, sandbox means having unlimited access to all resources at no cost/no requirements, everything is freely available and unlocked to you. Once you complete the main story it is essentially sandbox mode, giving me zero incentive to play sandbox mode. I'd rather that sandbox mode has everything unlocked from the beginning for people who don't care about story, or offer a true sandbox mode, with the ability to opt-in to the story or something.
All in all, this game is right up your alley if you love simulator games. Don't go in expecting to have your hand help in terms of doing the work for the orders, that's all on you. If you struggle with two orders, my recommendation is to NOT upgrade the order table.
