FireBall 2 Review (Djezpur)
Thanks to curator Higher Plain Games for bringing this game to my attention. I was not familiar with Fireball 2 - although it turned out that I did play previous entries from Radiangames like JoyJoy and Devastator.
Being an avid Geometry Wars fan, I was instantly drawn to Fireball 2; the game is simple but addictive, has butter smooth gameplay and gratifying graphics full of neon light explosions. It's a beautiful take on Retro Evolved 2's pacifism mode, but its flow is even better (because the bombs do not have those annoying gate posts you can crash into).
It may not suit players who, unlike me, want to have their shooters swamped with upgrades and tons of choices (taking you out of the action constantly). I'm glad to see Fireball 2 totally went for the opposite direction and still manages to stay enjoyable for more than a couple of runs. In spite of - or rather thanks to - its simplicity, I am definitely hooked on this absorbing experience.
