Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time Review (Syther)
Now that I have actually sunk some time into the game, here is a review id actually have given.
Games good lots of stuff to do and multiple ways to progress your characters power based on what elements you want to explore, there are systems in place to let you do the main story without having to level every other side skill, so if your only interested in that you can do that, however you'd be depriving yourself of a BIG chunk of the game
combat is mandatory for the main story, but combat is really easy, as in recommended level 50 content was easy as a lv 30
the game play is honestly very easy or I am over geared but the progression is enjoyable and if I want to find a struggle its very clear where I need to go look
I have been using bronze gear I crafted at the start of the game and its basically carried me through 3 material tiers, so the only really limiting factor from what I can tell is the level of the content your challenging, Lv 1 bronze ore and Lv 1 platinum ore are the same difficulty to smash but offer different material rewards
The real determining factor is in crafting, A bronze axe vs a Platinum axe assuming they are the same quality are worlds apart in power level
the story is honestly really charming, and playing this game after zombie survival game #647 or Jrpg's where the characters struggle with the dumbest things like emotions then turn around and fight a world ending threat like its easy... its really nice to have a story that doesn't take itself to serious but still tells a good narrative
you can read my previous response to other reviews below (There is actually a lot of good multiplayer activities but the game is FULLY enjoyable solo)
-----old review starts here-----
I don't buy a game unless I know I will enjoy it
so its rare for me to give a game a bad review
but reading all the reviews for this game honestly makes me wish steam had more than just a thumbs up / down system
all the complains seem to be that the games multiplayer / co-op is lacking significantly
and in my opinion that isn't a complaint, that's just a wish the game had more
dragon age and mass effect lunched with multiplayer and no one talked about those at all, some people who played the game didn't even realise they existed
but yet those games could have been made way better if the multiplayer was better
Yes it is obvious that this game would be BETTER with better multiplayer
but that doesn't change the fact that this game is good on its own
the fact its lacking good multiplayer is just an unfortunate reality that indicates they focused on single player content over making multiplayer more
and to be fair, picture this
your playing with your friend
he plays 2 hours a day and works 5 hours a day
you don't have a job so you've been playing 6 hours a day
your characters are level 40 and his are level 19
what are you going to do together?
are you going to one shot his monsters?
is he going to get one shot by your monsters?
the people that will get the most enjoyment out of a dedicated multiplayer system are people who can progress and play at the same time
the devs made the right move by focusing on single player because im not seeing any complaints about that
and in addition to that there IS the possibility of multiplayer later being added or modded in
in another universe however multiplayer was the focus and the single player was not as good as a result which resulted in a down grade of the multiplayer which would have scaled off the single player any way
ask for multiplayer but please don't say the game is bad because of multiplayer not being a core feature
