Fallout Tactics Review (Yahoo My Strat)
As a New Vegas and OG lore purist, this game's fun. When the engine works anyway. Graphics are obviously nicer than the first two games, and the movement system isn't exactly grid-based like in the first two. Definitely some weird quirks to the combat, but if you played the older titles then you adjust pretty quickly. I did find myself switching from the real-time combat to the turn-based style because the real-time setting becomes absolutely chaotic. I also needed to meticulously setup my team before any engagement or I would literally go insane. I'd snag it on sale if you're remotely interested in strategy games and Fallout.
IF THE GAME DOESN'T START FOR YOU, DO THIS:
1. Run the game from Steam. You will get a window with 3 options, click the one that says something like "Windowed mode, workaround for Win8"
2. Next, run the game as normal (launcher appears, click play/start). The game should launch in a window that is a bit small, but don't freak out.
3. Next, go to the settings, then go to "display."
4. Click the "default" button located on the bottom of the menu.
5. Exit and restart the game. It should run fine and you should be able to adjust the resolution.
