Fallout 4: Far Harbor Review (Vox_K)
Just finished the DLC and it is simply sublime. I'm so sorry Fallout 4, I didn't know your writing was THIS FIRE 🔥🔥🔥
Seriously, I was getting bored of the main game of Fallout 4 so I decided to launch Far Harbor questline. Seeing how the DLC is highly praised and was basically called the one good DLC content of Fallout 4, I came in with high expectations and I'm so happy that it actually exceeded my expectations.
What I love about the DLC:
1. The location of Far Harbor is wonderfully atmospheric, serene and creepy at the same time. I often fast travel when going to quest locations in the main game's Commonwealth but not with Far Harbor. The foggy atmosphere is just sublime no matter which time of day it is currently in.
2. The story is wonderfully interesting. The characters has actual depth. And of course, this being Fallout there's gonna be difficult choices ahead that could decide the fate of the island of Far Harbor.
3. The side quests doesn't bombard you. It unlocks after certain story moments so it's actually manageable and doesn't overload you with the amount of quests you needed to do. The best thing about it is that it ACTUALLY had impact on how you are perceived with the factions and how you are perceived could be beneficial in certain story elements.
Although, I hate to say it but it's not entirely flawless. The one con that I have is THAT FLIPPING MINECRAFT A$$ MISSION. Clearly, one of the devs at Bethesda played too much Minecraft one day and decided to make it EVERYBODY'S PROBLEM.
Overall, an incredibly satisfying short story to sink your teeth into. Most players these days probably already own the GOTY edition so make sure to visit Far Harbor when you can, you WON'T regret it.
