Fae Farm: Coasts of Croakia Review (Sunny)
i think people were expecting a full expansion pack with ~$40 worth of content rather than add-on-content, hence the negative reviews. personally i love the DLC and feel it's reasonably priced for what you get.
- a new mini map area
the new location is much larger than you would expect after reading the reviews, whilst it is a mini map and you need to memorise the routes it is no different than the fae realm map mechanic. also the park is beautifully designed and allows freedom of movement like the rest of Azoria.
- new scrolls/decor
there are more scrolls to find within the new location, all of which give you cute decor to match the frog/magic swamp aesthetic. some of the scrolls are hidden in obscure areas which gives you all the more reason to go exploring.
- new critters
there are new magical critters to collect as well as being able to befriend and chat with the regular base game critters. the dialogues are limited but gave me a good chuckle (my monarch butterfly is very sassy)
- new tool
you need this new tool in order to befriend and chat to critters, the upgrading mechanic allows different critters to be interacted with and incentivises you to continue collecting resources for upgrades, which is great for endgame
- new achievements
as somebody who loves to reach 100% completed on steam achievements, enough said
overall i love the DLC, even in endgame. however i would recommend starting a new game after you download so you can get the most out of the content (not having an excess of resources in storage you can use to upgrade too fast etc.)
