Factorio Review (Gear Girl Liker)
Got to exactly 420 hours in this game and of course had to write a review now.
It's been said to death by now: people call it cracktorio, crack addiction simulator, they joke that they abandoned their lives for factorio, that their wife was threatening to divorce them, so they bought her a copy of factorio, and she left them for factorio. Or they just say "the factory must grow" over and over. I know a guy IRL who actually had to uninstall factorio because it would have cost him his job for real.
Why does everyone say that? Because its true. Factorio is an extremely addictive game. It's a game full of chores: you have to build a new iron outpost, but you also have to automate like 20 different items, but you also have to deal with the biters breaching your defensive wall, but you also have to- but through some dark magic, those chores are extremely engaging and fun to accomplish. A single playthrough can easily last more than 24 hours, especially if you're new to the game. I think my first factory took more than 50 hours to build. The game keeps you so engaged that you barely notice the time passing, and before you know it you've sunk hundreds of hours into this game, and are genuinely going to celebrate when you reach a thousand.
When I first bought factorio, I got so hooked that I took 2 weeks off to play it nonstop. That's not a joke or an exaggeration, that's what I did. That's how good this game is. I haven't done something like that since I was a kid on summer break. This is "kid on summer break" levels of engaging.
This is yet another positive review of this game in a sea of positive reviews. I doubt this single post will be very impactful, but I'm glad to add my voice to the choir of praise this game deserves.
