F.E.A.R. 3 Review (AymericTheNightmare)

F.E.A.R. 3 is developed by Day 1 Studios and released in 2011.
This is the sequel to F.E.A.R. 2 Project Origin and the latest game in the franchise.
Nine months have passed since the end of F.E.A.R 2 .
Alma is about to give birth.
Its strong contractions cause powerful waves, destroying everything in their path.
The Point Man has in the meantime been captured and imprisoned by Armacham (ATC).
Paxton Fettel comes to free him, in order to return to Fairport to attend the birth.
The two formerly rival brothers must ally themselves for the good of the Family.
But their terrible childhood memories come to haunt them both...
The fear, violence and gore are omnipresent and perfectly implemented, thanks to the brilliant Master of Horror, John Carpenter.
The atmosphere is often gloomy and frightening, each place is in ruins, filthy and bloody.
The Almaverse spills terrific nightmares into the real world,
bringing gruesome monstuosities to life.
Many strange manifestations such as poltergeists and other unexplainable apparitions contribute to this uneasy atmosphere.
Multiple distressing melodies accompany the player in this permanent hell.
The gameplay is fluid, fast and the shootouts are dynamic and intense.
The Point Man is a seasoned fighter with incredible reflexes.
Bullet Time allows him to aim with extraordinary precision.
For the first time in the entire series, Paxton Fettel is also playable.
His telekinetic powers allow him to levitate all kinds of objects, and throw them at the enemy.
The second special ability allows to incarnate an enemy, until death ensues.
The AI is formidably intelligent and efficient, worthy of the first F.E.A.R..
Enemies constantly communicate about the player's position, ask for support,
take cover, try to attack from each side and bypass the danger,
try to flush out the player using grenades...
Some soldiers even refuse to carry out orders received if they are too injured!
The fighting sensations are closer to F.E.A.R. 1,
while the weapon design is reminiscent of F.E.A.R. 2.
In addition, a wide choice of weapons is available,
each one more impactful, precise and powerful than the last.
The Point Man can unfortunately only carry two weapons.
Ultra powerful Mechas (Powered Armor) can be piloted in awesome gameplay sequences,
as badass and gory as possible, allowing you to pulverize enemies and explode their vehicles.
Enough to feel super-powerful aboard these almost indestructible machines of death.
It is delightfully devilish and exhilarating to feel fear settling in the opposing camp...
The challenge system pushes the player to play as well as possible,
by my making headshots, killstreaks, melee attacks, etc,
in order to collect as many points as possible.
The enemies are close to what the license has accustomed us to, although with a few new ones.
ATC Soldiers have little in common with the simple security guards of the early games.
They are well equipped, merciless, insult at will, shoot on sight and even massacre civilians.
The same goes for the Replica Soldiers who fight alongside them.
but are recognizable by their characteristic armored suit.
Now, they both also use Powered Armors, these gigantic armored and heavily armed mechas.
Phase Casters are ATC cyborgs who can indefinitely summon Soldiers across the battlefield.
They are sneaky and love hiding themselves after spawning an ATC squad.
The Phase Commanders act as Bosses.
In addition to being much larger, more resistant and better armed,
They have the ability to pass through walls, making them adversaries not to be taken lightly.
annibals and Cultists are some kinds of zombies.
They were once simple civilians but fell into madness following Alma's psychic influence.
Lively and dexterous, they quickly climb any surface.
They use tools as weapons, such as hammers, crowbars, etc.
On the other hand, they aren't very smart, and deliberately run towards their target.
Some of these lunatics also have explosives attached to them...
Scavengers are small, voracious and swift quadripedal creatures,
straight from Alma's worst nightmares.
They leap towards their prey and slash them with their sharp claws and teeth.
Not very dangerous at first glance, They move in packs and become incandescent when injured...
A nefarious monster seems to be following your path, and seeks to annihilate you at all costs.
The Creep is a hideous humanoid creature, with skin and bones and guts exposed.
Try at all costs not to get caught by this walking nightmare.
The only flaw of this game is that it's very short, even on maximum difficulty.
But the potential for replayability is real thanks to the cooperative modes, including the campaign.
F.3.A.R. is an excellent FPS and a perfect outlet like devs don't do anymore.
The gunfights are nervous, the AI is perfect, the settings are original and the atmosphere is as dark as can be.
This game is often unfairly criticized by haters who don't know how to appreciate old-school FPS games.
