Euro Truck Simulator 2: Greece Review (𝕂𝕣𝕠𝕟𝔾)
Καλησπέρα
Here comes the day when we can travel to beautiful Greece, its unique islands and experience this cheerful vibe. Greek landscapes, mountain roads, coastal villages make you feel lucky to see it. It's a country with a very rich history and a diversity of nature and culture.
Greece holds a special place in my heart, it's a country where we often go on vacation with our family, and when traveling IRL through countries from Road to the Black Sea and West Balkans DLC, we always end up coming to sunny Greece, which I fell in love with many years ago when I visited it for the first time.
In the previous DLC review I hoped that we would get Greece in exactly one year, well it came out in 1 year and a 1 month.
Now a little bit of my thoughts about the future of the game:
Map expansions for ETS 2 started to come out less often than once a year. And some of them, like the most aggressive country in the world, were canceled. While in ATS we get 2-3 states every year. Now we will hope that Nordic Horizons will come out the same way in a year and nothing will slow down its development.
But the most interesting thing is what DLC will be after it, because every year the situation in the world (especially in Europe) changes and it unfortunately affects the release of the next DLCs as well.
I think it would be reasonable to make the next DLC Türkiye, at least its western part, because Istanbul alone is not enough. Especially some Greek islands are literally borders Turkey. This country has a huge share in the cargo transportation market: European, Middle Eastern, Asian. It would be cool to see other major cities and beautiful landscapes of Turkey, at least its western Mediterranean part, which is still more connected to Europe. It would be logical to include Cyprus here too, since its territory is too small to do it separately.
As for Ukraine, it is not known when it will appear in the game as DLC, because of the fact that Russian terrorists shell its cities every day, it actually makes it difficult to appear in the game. Developers won't even be able to go to this country for a research trip, it's not safe and many details will be hard to photograph, there is a war going on in the country. And Russia may never appear in the game again, because of its aggression not only to Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, but in general for all of Europe and the world. For the same reason we will not see Belarus. And without Ukraine there will be no Moldova (although it is so small that it could be added as a free update for the Romania).
Ireland remains and there is a popular theory that it will be added in the future DLC with the UK rework, but this is just a theory that is not confirmed. Iceland is also not worth waiting for itself, it would be more logical to include it in Nordic Horizons. So enjoy it in ProMods, as well as many of the above countries, which are unlikely to appear in the near future.
Personally for me the future of ETS2 is uncertain, and I have no idea what countries the developers will do next, not counting the reworks of the remaining old territories. We will observe, enjoy what we have, as well as cool mods like ProMods and others.
There is no such thing as a game being isolated from politics, everything that happens in real life affects all aspects of life, and entertainment is no exception.
I wish the war and all the geopolitical nonsense would end soon and for us to just travel and enjoy the road, because that's what we bought this game for. Bon voyage everyone!
Happy upcoming Christmas and New Year to everyone, see you in 2025 and we'll see what it brings for us both in life and in games. In the meantime, we'll be exploring the completely reworked Germany, the event in Greece, and upcoming Christmas events on European and American roads!
Thank you SCS for a quality job
