Eternights Review (Pepto Beezy)
I rarely ever leave reviews, this game made me want to.
This is a fantastic game. This is the concept of a game I've dreamed about since I first played Persona; a hack and slash, calender rpg dating sim, and I loved it to pieces.
It blows my mind that a game this good was not only made by a small team, but that it's also their first game. It's a relatively simple hack and slash, but it's flashy so it doesn't get old. (at least for me) The active skills the companions give you add just the right amount of depth, especially if you play it on the hardest difficulty. Only wish for two things; the maps to be a bit less empty, but there's enough and you can move through them fast enough that it isn't really a big deal, and more difficult enemy AI.
I couldn't care less about graphics, but I know some people do so; They're fine, good in some aspects. The character models and animations are all pretty great, save for a few odd moments that pass quickly. The monster models are all also pretty great, but they have pretty simple animations. Even the bosses do, but they also make up for it by each of them having a few flashy attacks.
What really put this game above and beyond is the characters and dialogue. This game is funny as hell, and it also handles the more serious moments really well. The character's all shine, and it helps that the voice acting is stellar. I really could say a ton more about them and the writing, but I honestly just think you should buy the game. It's a steal for $30, so if you're even thinking about it, get it dude.
8.5/10
Will likely bump it higher after I do all the other routes. ;)
