Emily is Away <3 Review (Kristian3)
This game is unique and pretty fun, you almost feel immersed in the experience like everything is happening to you as the player. I'll break down below my likes and dislikes about this game.
Likes:- (always start with the positives)
- As mentioned above, you can feel immersed in this game and relate quite heavily to your character.
- The music, both girls' music taste is amazing. Do not skip any of the YooToob playlists, I've added about 5 songs to my regular playlist from this game!
- The endings - all 5 main endings are vastly different from one another giving you a different experience.
- Save 1 & 2 bad endings - I particularly enjoyed how one girl doesn't care and the other sort of fights for you.
- The general layout of the game - brought some nostaliga in relation to early facebook days!
Dislikes:-
- "All Endings" achievement. If you want this, expect some painful play-through, i almost gave up out of boredom.
- FIrst playthough doomed to fail. I understand the reasoning with the coding etc.. but it just seems lazy.
- Both girls are exactly the same, personality, way they type etc.. the only stark difference is the way they write a smiley face. It would have been better had the dev given each girl their own unique personality. This again just seems lazy and makes getting all the endings painful.
- Nothing matters until episode 4. Essentially, everything up to this point is the same and again is pretty painful considering you have to play through at least twice if you want a good ending.
In conclusion, I do genuinely love this game, and it is really fun and engaging for the first two play-through's getting both the good & bad endings however I just think with a bit more work, the route to all 5 endings could have been vastly different rather than it just be the one piece of dialogue you say in Episode 4 and give each girl a different personality rather than just changing their name. This would have made getting the all achievements ending feel fun rather than a chore.
