Ebenezer and the Invisible World Review (michaelthorn99)
Changing my review to a recommend. In my original review I highlighted a bug I came across and went about my day. Soon the devs responded and went to work fixing the issue. The fact the developer responded quickly and not just leave the game as is, at least speaking for myself, shows a lot of character.
Now as for the game itself. I don't think it's a bad game. I think I can best describe this as the video game equivalent of siting on the couch on a winter's day while wrapped in a blanket and sipping hot cocoa. Ebeneezer and the Invisible World is not a long metroidvania, nor is it breaking new ground in genre. It's a cozy hack slash to play through during the Christmas season and that's just fine with me.
The story isn't going to blow your socks off and it wasn't the reason I continued playing. I wanted to see more of this world and experience this twist on the Christmas Carol story.
There is no voice acting and the soundtrack is pretty bare. But that wasn't a concern for me. I can play a game like this listening to a podcast while bashing fools with Ebeneezer's cane.
