Dynasty Warriors: Origins Review (Simpboy Keigo)
Pros:
-Good combat. Very fluid and each weapon feels distinct.
-Storytelling is much more immersive than before.
-Enemy officers are more challenging and fun to play against.
-Ally army and morale are more relevant. Large scale advances, and stratagems are a thrill.
-Bodyguards are useful now. You can command them to attack enemies in formation.
-1 on 1 duels from older games are back.
-Really good presentation. I love the mix of new and old designs.
-Horseback combat feels better. Strong attack will now dismount you, and it's very useful!
-Lu Bu really feels like a boss.
-OST includes rearregements of tracks from past games.
Cons:
-Yuanji wasn't born yet.
-Musou attacks are just lame. Battle Arts are way more impactful and cool.
-Can't play with all the officers.
-I wish I could create my own character, instead of having a fixed protagonist.
Then I wouldn't mind characters being made into NPCs.
-No co-op
Overall, I really like the new direction of the series.
I'm already looking forward to a sequel that can improve on it even more, and hopefully focus more on the actual three kingdoms era.
(Kinda sick of the majority of games focusing solely on the formation of the kingdoms).
And of course, we can always replay the older games.
I've been wondering if we'll ever see a new Orochi game. Probably not?
