Dying Light Review (Espadrile)
Sum-Up
🟩 Pros
🟥 Cons
- Melee combat feels satisfying. It also has a lot of variety between different melee weapons.
- Movement is seamless and fluent. Parkour system is well-thought out. It feels great.
- Sandbox experience is definitely there. You're the god of the map and you can do whatever you desire most of the times.
- Map looks good, feels great to explore. Everywhere is filled with content. There is no copy-paste here.
- Zombies are terrfying. They look battered and move like a real zombie.
- Day-Night cycle feels awesome to experience. Game switches from an action-shooter to a psychological-horror in seconds.
-Skill trees are great. You feel that your character gets stronger by the time passes.
-Story is solid. You become emotionally invested to the characters. World feels alive and responsive. Main character is also great. One of my bests of all time, Crane is up there with Geralt.
- Story progression and upgrades etc. are shared between the saves of the players on MULTIPLAYER.
- Gunplay feels empty. It feels like they don't have any weight to them. First person animations of them are also not great compared to melee weapons.
- A tool you get named "Grappling Hook" essentially breaks the whole game (experience wise) after you get it. Game gives it to you by itself. Don't use it no matter what.
- Second map that you progress after a while is an overall inferior version of the first map that you start the game on. It is a good map but the first map is much better.
- Gun variety is atrocious. Only 2 rifles, 2 pistols, 2 revolvers, 2 shotguns and like 2 crossbows exist if you don't fork out the money for the DLC. Even then, they are reskinned versions of the already existing ones.
- It runs like ass on laptops and portable gaming systems. Also the COOP integration can fail because it is based on P2P.
🟨 Bugs & Issues
🔧 Specs
- It is essentially unplayable, performance wise, on some portable gaming systems.
- COOP and MULTIPLAYER can fail because of the P2P system.
- Hacked items exist and duping items exist.
- VAC system in the game does not really work. (It doesn't give out bans to hackers. You can enable it to not get matched into "VAC banned" people though.)
- 5800X
- 2060
- 32GB RAM
- HDD
- 1080p
Content & Replay Value:
A lot of content here, you cannot really finish it on a couple sessions. It is gonna take some time to finish, at least 50 hours. Replayability is very good. Story is the same regardless but the gameplay and COOP redeems it.
Is it worth buying?
Buy the full package with the DLCs on a sale.
