Dungeons 4 Review (rimsky79)

So - whats new from the last game, gameplaywise? Essentially nothing, same troops, same buildings, same system, same format. Graphics must be better right? Not really. So, if theres no upgrade in quality, no addition of new minions, rooms, anything, then the campaign must be great right? No, again nothing new. In fact, we're repeating a lot of the previous game. We wiped out the entire landscape in the last game, and the Goddess in the DLC. Now given the entire premise of Dungeons is tongue in cheek humour it gets old, quickly. A new hero turns, up, raises the boss of the previous game from the dead, so you get to fight him all over again. Do you enjoy scripted defeats after a hard slog through a mission? We've got em! Do you enjoy the classic "I'll get you next time, but I'm running away now"? There's HEAPs of that. Again, I get that its trying to jam all the cliche tropes it can down your throat - there's even an infinity gauntlet with stones - it gets old, and boring very quickly. Only so many times you can hear "save the enemy, kill my troops, oops, the other way around" before it becomes cringe. At least its self aware enough to acknowledge its forcing material in for the sake of padding. Even the attempt at a lesson is the exact same as D3 - Good can go to far across the line in trying to fight evil. Just the same. And there are enough good survivors at the end to enable a sequel to bring back anyone who died anyway.
Ultimately, not a terrible game, but not worth paying for if you have Dungeons 3 in your library.
