Dragon Quest Treasures Review (GaiaFosu)
I really enjoyed my time in this game... wished they did more with it.
Collecting all kinds of collectibles specially the treasures (which reference other games from the series) is the most enjoyable part of the game. this is technically a prequel to Dragon Quest XI... or rather a backstory for one of the party members. The exploration is fun and trying to find ways around in the most efficient ways using the monster fortes by gliding and launching and flying and such. Trying to find harder places to hide your treasures online for people to look for and looking for other people's treasures too. Also, they added the "shiny Pokemon" element with the special monsters wearing accessories or having paint... would've loved it if they did it more of a general thing and let it be customizable rather than having monsters that have the marks of other gangs. Some of them do have stuff that isn't affiliated with other gangs but still.
Now for the thing that wasn't as enjoyable which are the achievements. So, let's talk about the most enjoyable part of the game which is the part in the name which is collecting the "treasures". Now, I enjoyed getting all kinds of different treasures but there are alot of stuff that aren't as straightforward as they should've been like the part where some treasures can only be found in specific areas or drop from specific monsters (ofcourse the ones you get from doing side quest don't count) and to make getting the treasure finding efficient I had to make a cheat with all the treasures that I had left because I kinda stopped getting new treasures after reaching like the 500 treasure mark. Some of the collectibles were kinda frustrating to get like the balloons that you need to pop in each area except for one. I had like 2-3 left in each area except the last one which blended very well so much that I missed it thrice!
The last treasure was all about the grind... thank goodness the community agreed on somewhere to grind the replicas for money or that last achievement of collecting the maximum amount of gold would've been a more frustrating experience.
Also, the combat is very repetitive and simple. Your MP also feels kinda pointless as you don't use it for attacks but only for reviving the party or healing yourself. Some stuff are kinda BS where you get one-shotted by a critical hit and the combination of the monster skills like the skill with the double-edged sword or some monsters that shave away at your HP while you attack them which sucks when you are in the rage mode and you hit hard and do critical hits only to die before the monster you're fighting because of the BS ability. But, I digress. I hope the fix it and reshape it or maybe even combine it with Dragon Quest Builders.
