Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero - Hero of Justice Pack Review (da6x3)

As others have noted on here, this is an extremely lazy release very similar to the main game itself. This DLC pack is described to contain 11 new characters. It's not 11, it's really 5, Gohan Super, Piccolo Super, Gamma 1, Gamma 2, and Cell Max. Gamma 1 and 2 are basically different versions of the same character. Their abilities overlap and there's not much difference between them. Piccolo is a standout in his orange form as is Gohan Beast but the fundamentals don't change with any of these characters. Not only do each of these characters have abilities that numerous other characters on the roster have, just with differing animations of similar ki abilities like Masenko and Special Beam Cannon, but they all still comply with the brain dead mechanics of the game. And since the mechanics of Sparking Zero are problematic, so too are the characters in this DLC pack.
What's more, there are no new stages, something the game desperately needs. There are no new gameplay modes, something else the game desperately needs. To cap it all off, the pack is overpriced at 18 dollars for what's essentially 5 characters, 2 of which power up into multiple forms that the devs have falsely counted as separate characters.
It's way past time to start accepting this game for what it really is, a lazy cash-in on a popular IP for Bandai Namco's fiscal quarter last year. Sparking Zero lost 3/4's of its audience in less than a month due to the severe lack of content that the game has both online as well as offline. This little tournament that Bandai Namco hosted where they randomly selected characters that entrants were forced to choose from was a disaster with players purposely abusing broken mechanics such as flight as a protest directly to the devs hosting the tournament. Then Sparking Zero failed to get accepted on the list of fighting games at EVO 2025. This game is done. The joke was funny at first but now the punchline has lost its juice.
Anyone who gives any further positive reception to this game without a serious attempt on Spike Chunsoft's behalf to actually fix what's wrong with it, is a clown who shouldn't be taken seriously. With the upcoming Bleach Rebirth of Souls coming out in less than 2 months, I don't expect that game to be much different in quality, but it appears at the very least to be a halfway competent attempt at designing an actual competitive fighting game. Sparking Zero has failed at that on every level and continues to prove why fan service driven anime games are a plague. This DLC release just emphasizes that point. Thumbs Down on this BS.
And for those leaving your little pathetic jester awards, not only are you giving me free points, not only are you by leaving these ridiculous awards self-admitting to being a weak soy boy shill but you're also not changing any of the facts that I stated in this review about this DLC pack, about this game. So go ahead, be a coward and leave your little jester award cause I guarantee you won't leave a comment on my YouTube channel.
