Dr. Fetus' Mean Meat Machine Review (JshKlsn)
I recently discovered Puyo Pop which introduced me to this type of puzzle game. I then found out that a Super Meat Boy version of it existed, and saw that it had a bunch of negative reviews. I figured people were being dramatic, because Super Meat Boy franchise is known for being difficult, and decided to pick it up on sale to give it a go.
I'm glad I got it on sale. This game sucks.
They took a great game, Puyo Pop/Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, copied it, and added a bunch of annoying obstacles that just take the fun right out of the game.
I think that's the worst part. The game isn't bad because it's hard. It's just bad. It's like they thought "hey, how do we clone this popular game 1 for 1 but make it hard so we can call it a Super Meat Boy title?" and then implemented the first idea that came to their minds. Absolutely no thought went into it.
Also, I played on the Steam Deck offline, so Steam didn't track my game time accurately. Even after 2 hours of play time it's still just as bad. In fact, it kinda gets worse the more you play.
