Dorfromantik Review (Boweh)

Dorfromantic is an ostensibly chill game with the most frustrating progression/unlock system in any game I've ever played. To unlock new tile configurations and visual styles, you need to complete achievements, which are usually some form of tedium and/or rng dependence that will require you to play hundreds of games. That's an annoyance that other games have, but what makes dorfro so *special* is that by default, all your achievements are locked. You need to do a special challenge in a game, unlocking a fixed tile at the edge of the map and completing its quest, in order to unlock the ability to gain progress toward an achievement, one at a time. So you need to do the same thing hundreds of times to clear the achievement, but none of the times that you already did the thing count.
Why on God's green Earth is the game like this? What sadistic bastard thought it would be funny to force you to connect fixed tiles to unlock access to achievements one at a time, and had the balls to make one of those achievements require you to complete 50 more fixed tiles?
Maybe if you're looking for a time waster, you won't care that dorf is specifically designed to disrespect your time in innovative new ways. For me, considering how much they ask of your time to get what you paid for, I'm not convinced they should be asking the same of your wallet.
