Doraemon Story of Seasons: Friends of the Great Kingdom Review (Yagami 😭)
I haven't tried playing the first one but this game is really good on it's own. Doesn't seem like you need to play the first one to understand this one (or the story) at all. There's quite alot of quality of life improvements that I'd like to point out.
- Time skipping. Don't need to wait by standing, you just need to nap PLUS you get some of your energy back.
- Quest Log - is a great addition so I can keep track of things.
- Instant Tool Upgrades - No need to wait days to upgrade your tools. You just give 'em the materials and they'll give you the upgraded tool right away.
- Easier to befriend townsfolk. Just need to talk to them (and give gifts of course to hasten progress.) I am currently in the second week and I managed to 3-hearts almost everyone.
- Friends can help you. I'm not there yet but I experienced it through the demo. Local co-op is unlocked though.
The only stuff that I don't like so far is:
- Mining. Ladders are really hard to find. I can only manage to get to the 3rd floor before losing all my stamina. There's a point where only 3 spots left and I still didn't find the ladder!
- Fishing. I don't know if it's a bug but when I got something hooked and tried to pull the rod, I get nothing. No indication if I failed to hook it or I was just too fast but It's happening quite alot to me. I need to delay a bit on purpose to get the fish but it gets away sometimes.
That's probably all that I can think of right now and I'm just starting out. Will edit this comment in the future if I find something more interesting.
I am aware of Stardew Valley and it's ton of features but this game is also gorgeous. If you like any of the Harvest Moon / Story of Season games - You'll gonna love this too!
