Divinity: Original Sin Review (dragonadamant)

This used to be free and still is on GOG, so I don't know what's up with the pricing. Either way, I found it was more trouble than it was worth.
I like the idea of a pet who follows you and, if you have the right passive ability, can be talked to. You thankfully don't need to always have that ability slotted on your character sheet in order to benefit from his rewards (he gives you a few recipes for magical skill books). The biggest issue I have with him is that he triggers traps, which is sometimes useful if you want to use him as a minesweeper (he has plenty of health and can continue following you on some level as a ghost) but is frequently annoying since this also interferes with puzzles that depend on pressure plates. Enemies will also try to attack him, which can put you in danger if you're sneaking, Sir Lora is near you, and the enemy uses an area-of-effect attack that happens to accidentally hit you (ruining your stealth) while attempting to attack your pet.
I like Sir Lora's writing and his "brave knight" personality, but since he's not a full-fledged party member and isn't very interactive unless you want to teleport him around, I think Sir Lora gets in the way more than he helps.
