Disney Speedstorm Review (🐅 Red Tiger 🐅)
Decent and enjoyable Disney themed kart racing game.
Disney Speedstorm is a decent kart racing arcade genre that seems to have taken some ideas involving Mario Kart and turning it into its own theme. I was looking forward to the early access release when it was first announced a few months ago. The characters and the animations for each are well-done and each seem to have their own distinct personality while your racing or selecting them in the main menu. I especially love and adore Donald Duck.
Unlocking parts and suits and paint jobs and customizing your kart is not that difficult but everything I feel is limited and bare in this area right now. The tracks are also wonderfully done and each has its own theme song from the various Disney films that I and most people probably know and used to watch. However, while there are only 8 tracks so far and its limited here as well, more and more additions and features I’m sure will be coming. The chapters/stories are good as well, there’s just some levels like the elimination races that are quite challenging. The AI/computer racers are programmed well to be challenging enough even on medium settings where I have it at.
As far as pay-to-play is concerned like some reviews mentioned, I really have not had that much of an issue with that. It is a bit annoying though how the game tries to force you to do this and that in order to move on, but in my perspective it’s not all that bad. Cross-platform is also a nice feature as well so if I play this on another platform it will smoothly sync between both platforms. I have tested this already and it works well. Overall, if you enjoy Disney films and the iconic characters or like and want something a bit different than Mario Kart, I recommend giving it a chance and picking this up. I do really enjoy it thus far.
