Destiny 2: The Final Shape Review (chocolateexplosion64)
This is for those who want to wrap up the Destiny series. This is a perfect send-off and calling card to how good the franchise can get. This comes from a guy who spent at least 2k hours in the game on multiple consoles. Do i recommend this game though? No, I can't. Usually, the quality of a game stays somewhat consistent. It shows that, at least on the company side of things, it is running all right. However, i mean it when i say this game has HIGH HIGHS and the lowest of lows. I might even say this expansion is SO GOOD that i know Bungie can't build upon it more. they neutered sessions and made it seem like it was a good thing, and I think i speak for everyone when i say i do not like being pissed on and Bungie calling it rain.
For those who want to see what this game has to offer. It's nice, but you must put your wallet to work because destiny is F2p. I think it's better to say it is Free to try. For those who want to get back into the game and see that canonical ending of the franchise. this DLC WILL NOT disappoint. For those thinking there is longevity in this product
I'm sorry, but you are sorely mistaken.
I recommend this as simply an experience and not as what Bungie wants. Bungie wants a game that is working overtime on an ancient engine to be played for another few years until their next game drops. What i see this game as is a beautiful story of family. Of greed and the lust for power. Of what you can do with very little.
To get a bit personal, my favorite gun in the game is the Bottom Dollar. It was really good back in the day, but like all older guns, it sort of falls to the wayside until the meta says it can be good. I always loved its quote. "Never count yourself out."
This game gave me the courage to keep going and to play until my Bottom dollar. This expansion was the game's bottom dollar, but it only took a community outcry, millions of dollars worth of refunds, and over 30% of the company being laid off during the holiday season for Bungie to realize that. It took 80% of the player base to say this will be the last time they will ever play for Bungie to notice that if this fails, they are screwed. Never forget that they were going to release a much different campaign until the community finally, in unison said what Bungie wasn't going to acknowledge
TLDR, and to sum things up, I recommend this game for what it was, not what it WILL BE. I Recommend the highs of this game, but the second you see low after low after low...don't be afraid to just walk away
9/10 Proceed with optimistic Caution.
