Deponia Review (rasterman7)

While this is certainly an adventure game in a series that does have some charm for its target audience, I don't think it can be recommendable outside of it.
On the one hand, it features a soundtrack that mixes orchestra with folk and record scratching, making for some good remixes as a result. The art itself is also weird but in a cartoonish way and makes the environment feel alive as many of its ecosystems can be seen in the background. Also, most of the puzzles being presented do have their logic once you take into account what cast you're dealing with and how the story progresses. Maybe you'll miss a solution the first time by forgetting to check a corner or talking to someone but most of the time the way they deliver their lines can point you to the right direction.
Speaking of dialogue, man, this humor certainly was of a different time huh. The main character in particular is misogynistic and doesn't try to hide it. As a result many of the jokes he tries to pull don't land and the rest of the cast certainly doesn't help. That isn't to say that at no instance did I let out a chuckle, but it severely underperformed in that aspect. Furthermore, after so many years of its release it's amusing how the game suffers from frame slowdowns mainly in scene transitions, and bugs that can get you stuck in a puzzle unless you tinker with the game's code or reload a previous file. All of that should have been addressed but I guess it was put to the side and abandoned.
All in all, there is a certain demographic that I can see this making an impact on but by this point there are other games I could recommend instead. Those would probably find the word Drogglejug hilarious instead of dumb and annoying.
