Dead Island 2: SoLA Review (Jules)

I have mixed feelings regarding this DLC.
+ Two new enemy variations are introduced, the Whippers and Clotters. Both have a pretty cool design, though I am personally not the biggest fan of how they fight.
+ The map is absolutely gorgeous!
+ Two (I believe?) new weapons, the Ripper (basically a mini chainsaw) and...I forgot the name, Sawblade-Launcher or something? It does what the name says. Never really used either weapon though.
+ Decent story.
~ The DLC becomes INCREDIBLY annoying if you have already unlocked all enemies in the base game. For your own sanity, I'd recommend doing it before you unlock the final enemy in the main game, Mutators.
~ The visuals during the final part of the DLC would have been cool, but personally? They were hard to look at and made me feel nauseated. I don't think you can turn them off, either?
~ Maybe the DLC is more bearable if you aren't level 30, and more around level 20?
- Like I said before, we got two new enemies. Whippers and Clotters. I never built on Fury, so the Whippers for me were a non-issue. But the Clotters? Their introduction was absolutely abysmal and made me want to uninstall the game.
- The final boss gave me a freaking aneurysm. There's also no checkpoints. So, if you do at 5% HP left, haha, enjoy redoing the entire fight which can easily take twenty minutes. Thats also ignoring the fact that they LOVE to oneshot you for no apparent reason.
- They should have at least given us a checkpoint when we hit the 3rd phase.
- The Amalgamation sidequest was super interesting, but...the boss is a freaking catastrophe. You're in the equivalent of a shoebox fighting off one Clotter, then three, then five I believe. This fight was SO infuriating
