Dead Island 2: Haus Review (Kiri)
I found Haus to be a regrettable way to spend my afternoon.
Dead island 2's gameplay has grown stale on me since about the 8th hour into the main campaign and I thought perhaps this DLC could offer me a fun change of pace.
It in all honesty turned out to be more of the same, just that the setting was incredibly disturbing and uncomfortable for me to process. Perhaps if you are a psychological horror fan you would immediately get more of a kick out of this than me.
Honestly I felt like I was going to throw up during my session but that might have also just been due to the fact I have been sick of facing the same respawning enemies on loop.
There is still a great deal of humor left in here but the setting failed to make me capable of even producing a grin !
You do get a crossbow about halfway through but really, it does not vary things much in my opinion. It is a super welcome addition but I honestly don't get why it is linked to Haus at all.
The plot of the expansion felt like something I already experienced several times, there truly are some genuine eye candy set pieces but else there is not much room for originality.
Also the description does say :
"Will you embrace the Kult’s vision and fight for their cause? The choice is yours in this first story expansion for Dead Island 2. "
But you will find that there is absolutely zero choice involved in there... unless ... I guess ... we count the choice of playing the DLC ?
