Dead by Daylight: Tools of Torment Chapter Review (Byzantine)
This has got to be the worst chapter ever released in DBD.
The killer aesthetic is an absolute joke and very out of place in this game. Her lore is a mess and looks like it was cobbled together by an intern the night before release. She become a killer after being radicalized by "Brazilian manga." BRAZILIAN. MANGA. Seriously?
Her entire character design just seems focused around selling skimpy cosmetics. They had the chance here to make a cool robot killer and instead they came up with this. Please BHVR. I'm begging you. Hire some new talent for this department. All we wanted was a robot. Any robot. And instead we get a wanna-be anime protagonist with a bedazzled mask.
Her power is alright, but it is absolutely boring. Set up some drones around a 3 gen and then everyone suffers through a 40 minute game because the survivors can't break it. Eventually she wins because the survivors just give up and want to move on with their life.
I will admit the sound design for her power is nice. But that is a small consolation.
Survivors are unique enough and are a nice addition to the roster. Their perks are meh, but i'm glad a new meta perk was not introduced.
The update to the shelter woods map is a win though - but that is base game and you don't need this DLC to experience it.
Don't buy this one. I love DBD but this DLC is not good, well designed, or healthy for the game. And it is also expensive for what you get. Honestly I played 2-3 games of the skull merchant and I had no desire to continue. I went back to the other killers and probably won't play her unless a daily or tome asks me to. Total dud.
