Dead by Daylight: The Halloween Chapter Review (gak)

Adaptation: Halloween (1978) was the first movie related to a licensed killer in DBD that I watched. It was the remastered version, and I'd say after watching it, I could summarise what the Slasher genre is in one phrase: "low budget B-movies where the killer is shoddily put together and you can barely see him under the poor lighting and film grain"
Killer: The model in-game looks more like what we think Michael Myers looks like than he does in the movie. The stalking mechanic is brilliant, this is without a doubt the best adaptation of a licensed character's enigma into a viable gameplay mechanic. It shows both parts of Michael, trying to find places to feed off of survivors without them noticing until the last second and then later going to town and slashing everyone with a knife stance over his head. His own perk, Play with your Food is a great perk on him to go along with the lieu of pure fun add-ons that he has. No other killer in the game (other than Blight maybe) has every single one of his add-ons have a reason to exist. It is never bland to go up against Michaels because the variety of his add-ons makes him quite an exciting killer to play and face, even if it's getting Tombstone'd on your first chase after he has fed off of others. He was a monster in Indoor Maps such as Hawkins where Jumpscare Myers was a force to reckon with, and he could also stalk through most of the glass and bridges in that map too. Too bad it's gone...
His primary Mori and secondary Mori are both the same, and it is genuinely the creepiest kill animation in the game.
Music: The first and only killer until Stranger Things to have a custom Terror Radius and Chase Music. It is so different from every other music piece from the game due to making the strings and distorted drums sound like the piano notes from John Carpenter's score and not the typical fast-paced chase music with a high tempo as seen with other killers. But you can't truly appreciate the different levels of the terror radius in-game unless he's in Tier 3 because of the 16-meter range. Listening to the 4 stages from a gamerip uploaded to YouTube really gives you the chills.
Survivor: But Laurie Strode's model (pre-rework) on the other hand looked hideous and nothing like what a human face would look like. Post rework, however, she's almost as cute as Jamie Lee Curtis from the movie. I was recommended by the DBD discord server to buy this as my first DLC just for a Laurie perk called 'Decisive Strike'. It is classified as an 'anti-tunnel' perk and it did its job, but there were people who abused It and basically let you get away with doing anything in front of the killer for 60 seconds after you were unhooked. Though 3 months after I too abused it, it was nerfed along with Object of Obsession, making Laurie's perks relegated from 'Great Perks' to 'Necessary Meta'.
Map: The Haddonfield map had an opening jingle every time you spawned in, and every time I heard it when I was alt-tabbed, I knew I was in for an ugly experience. The concept of a map being a street with houses was brilliant, much like Hitman 2's Whittleton Creek, but it got stale very quickly because of its low-quality visuals and survivor-sidedness. Usually, rock loops are hard for 110% killers, but every building in this entire map is painful for a 110% killer. But I hope the upcoming rework doesn't strip the character and theme of the map in favor of bland colors because I really liked the small details such as the hooks being Light Poles with a curly metal pattern on them, but on the other hand, they could get rid of the blue tint in favor an atmospheric pitch-black moonlit Halloween setting.
