Dead by Daylight: Steady Pulse Review (Paentimexi)

TL;DR at the end...
Let's be honest - you're here to know 2 things:
- Is the survivor model worth the investment ?
- Are the perks awesome ?
The answers are:
- Eheheyyyy~
- No.
To be fair, the survivor is interesting and has some of the only halfway competent lore in the entire game. She looks really good and her big eyes are adorable. She has good voiced dialogue and is generally alright!
The biggest flaws are a lack of visual style and general lack of identity.
I was honestly expecting outfits of her in scrubs, some EMT attire, or some more hardcore things - but she's decked with the same sort of pretty-girl baubles as everyone else.
So the perks - that's why you're here, right?
- Heal people on Death-Hook twice as fast. - Snore. You're paying money for a perk that's generally weaker than the free Botany Knowledge.
- Peekaboo momentary glance of the Killer when Exhausted - You use Exhaustion perks in chase when you're either right in front of the Killer or about to be 3 zip codes away. The only thing this perk does is punish you for using lockers.
- Protection hooks give all your nearby buddies bath-salt zoomies! - Generally the best perk of the bunch, but highly situational. Sure you can MAKE it work - but if survivors were taking protection hits in vital moments, Metal Of Man would be top of the tier lists. Most of the time the health state exchange is the value of a protection hit - and turning yourself into the latest priority target isn't always valuable. It simply is overhyped - even though it can be very useful every 10-12 matches or so.
Overall - the survivor is incredibly mid in terms of fashion. She can absolutely turn around (Haddie, as an example, had initial skins were very unkind to her, but she's become a favorite of mine with some quality and characteristic additions)
Sure she can improve - but when placed side by side with Feng the Gamer Goblin, Kate the sultry Country Girl, Zarina the high-fashion loving photographer, Mikaela the essential oils horoscope witch, Haddie the Ghost Hunting YouTuber, Vittorio the buff wizard, Gabriel the Buzz Lightyear from Hell, Sable the eGirl, Taurie Cain the moping cultist, Elves from Dungeons and Dragons, and Steve the Steve from Strever Things ... poor Orela doesn't do much to stick out.
Love her and I think they did a good job with her - all the positive reviews are warranted just off of her alone.
TL;DR
Unless you already own all the other survivors - you're not going to find much enjoyment out of this investment. She's not even worth the grind to get her for free. You aren't missing out if you pass this one up and wait for the next DLC instead.
