Dead by Daylight: Sadako Rising Chapter Review (kyuketsuki★)

Basically; Sadako is Freddy on nuts. First of all, she can cloak like Wraith, and sort of Spirit and Pig. When playing as her, all maps have televisions across and you can choose one to teleport when cloaked. When you teleport to one, if survivors nearby, you inflict a build up meter on them. That thing allows her to do short mori, like Pyramidhead. Also with that, she can see survivors behind objects like Legion. She's a stealth killer mixed with other killer mechanics, and there is no gimmick beyond her power. When she's not cloaked, she is an average killer. It's complex, yet sounds fun. But there is a huge problem with her, building up that meter is impossible for practically reasons. Anytime you teleport into a tv, it will turn off for a short duration. Survivors also can disable them. And much like Plague, you can't see your meter progress on survivors. They can see exact progress unlike you, and can fight back with it. Getting tapes from a tv to put it to another tv, or just disabling them cleanses their meter. They can also avoid playing near of them.
So based on this, I don't think she's powerful since her power is relying on surprise attacks and there is nothing beyond her power to advance chases and loops. She's not better than any killers I've mentioned above. Sounds fun, yet few months after her release she will lose popularity and you'll play against typical Nurse, Blight, Bubba, Wraith, Huntress when playing as survivor. Since perks gotten overpowered for both sides and MM system doesn't scales up with SWFs, chase and loop related powers are necessary for a killer and Sadako is a living proof for it. Yeah, against unorganized survivors in a low visibility map she'll do the job but when it comes to a team plays safe, you'll basically looped to DEATH.
And it comes down to perks. Starting with Floods of Rage a scourge hook perk, is a great alternative to, and good to match with Barbecue and Chili. It might be not efficient to use two perk slot for aura on most of the killers though. What it does is basically, when you hook someone on white hooks and when someone unhooks them, you'll see auras of survivors for several seconds. It's a different take, it's versatile and I like it. It's not greater than the original one, but it's not niche to work with. Call of Brine is a perk which I've not fond of. It works when you damage a generator, and after it's being damaged for several seconds it regresses fast and you can see it's aura and when a survivor tries to repair it and pulls a good skill check it gives a sound clue. It's straight upgrade to Surveillance, even if it requires skill checks and timer to work with, it also has built-in Ruin regression and notifies you with a sound instead of just visuals. Only downside of it when I compare it with the original material is, you can't use it with Ruin, which is strong meta perk. However, like i've stated it already has ruin kind of support so I doubt you need to mix & match both, much like Pop Goes the Weasel. Speaking of, it's also great alternative or good to match with it too. Last but not least, Merciless Storm. It's sort of unique perk that use what only Tinkerer used at this point. When generator comes down to 90% survivors have to do continuous skill checks and if they fail it'll block the generator for several seconds. It's not strong but not niche as well. I think it'll give some flavor to generator oriented perks such as Overcharge; because it'll make the first skill check harder to guarantee blocking and Tinkerer; so you can see the generator this skill procs at very earlier stage.
Animations are great to capture source material, but M1 feels janky and missing the overall hitting feeling. Model and textures are also great, but for her hair, modeling team could do better. Moris are just awesome, it's a blessing to have two of them like Myers and the long one is brutal to look at. Also, you can see her feet while carrying survivors, for those people.
TLDR; She's not particularly bad, but not great either. With a complex power like this, and also because it's a stealth oriented power, it needs to be more rewarding. If you are in for a casual run and fun, yeah I recommend her. Much like Ghostface, Myers and Pig players you'll main her for shits and gigs. But If you are playing for the win, yeah I'm talking about you basement Bubba, I can't because she does a lot but everything she does, another killer does it better.
