Dead by Daylight: Castlevania Chapter Review (thatonescrub)
The Castlevania chapter is in my opinion one of the best dbd chapters released, Dracula is a great addition to the killer roster, his power of switching forms between bat, wolf and vampire each with their own ability is fun, he looks good and his voice lines really round out the character. Dracula does feel a little out of place in dbd kinda of like wesker but both are fun additions that i think the game is better off with besides there's other killers that fit in less.
The perks Dracula came with i'm not a big fan of i can see what they were trying with Human greed and while it doesn't work it at least creates a unique interaction with chests but Dominance and Wretched fate are boring perks Dominance makes chests and totems take a longer time, no efficient survivor will do chests anyways as it's generally a waste of time it mostly punishes unique survivor chest builds which are already not strong and when it comes to protecting totems there's better perks for it like thrill of the hunt, Haunted ground, Pentimento, Retribution and Undying, there's already too many perks for defending hexes in my opinion. I haven't played around with the addons of Dracula but i liked Alucard's shield and the cube of Zoe, i'd say his addons are fine but not perfect.
The survivor of the chapter Trevor feels out of place the Belmonts are supposed to be hunters of the night and regularly defeat Dracula alongside other strong monsters so seeing Trevor and the legendary skins Alucard and Soma be so powerless feels off this isn't the first time it's been like this Leon and Jill also defeat the monsters in Resident evil but Trevor feels the most out of place for some reason, he looks good and distinct from the other survivors, the voice lines are also nice. Trevor's perks are better than Dracula's though they lack a bit of oomph i'd have liked a perk like flash bang or chemical trap for Trevor Moment of Glory and eyes of Belmont are fun perks that work well in combinations with other perks but i like exaltation but its too weak the effect of upgrading items and getting bit of charge back is interesting but it's just not enough to warrant pallet stunning a killer which can be almost impossible against certain killers like nurse or it could be easy against killers like wraith pallet its just too much risk for the reward.
Lastly i feel like a Castlevania map could've been really cool and a bit of missed opportunity but i understand that making the castle into a map would've been too much work and the reaction would be similar to rpd so i get why they didn't make it, it appearing in the distance whenever Dracula is the killer is a cool detail though. Overall i really like this chapter the killer is well made the survivor looks good i'd recommend getting this if you already have dbd
