DC's Justice League: Cosmic Chaos Review (Elvick)

I've already gotten the platinum on PS5, but wanted to write a review here. This is probably Outright Games' best release. The devteam did a really good job. There's full voice acting which isn't the usual for Outright, sadly, but the art design is really nice. It has animated cutscenes that are really cool, the graphics have a nice style and look super polished.
The gameplay itself is pretty basic, but it's fun. If you enjoy LEGO type gameplay and dungeon crawler dungeons then it's a good pick for you. The main criticisms I would place on the game is the dungeons. They're just a bit boring and same-y feeling.
And it's a bit of a bummer you're limited to 3 (Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman) from the JL. It would've been nice to play as others like Flash, Green Lantern, Cyborg and Aquaman that are also in the game but regulated to support characters. But, I suppose it allows the story to be more focused.
The story is highly amusing. There are tons of references to past DC moments weaved into the dialog that occurs ingame and during cutscenes. There's unlockable costumes which is a nice touch in an era of gaming where costumes are usually regulated to paying for DLC.
There are different abilities you can use, you can change your elemental attacks, there's a kind of rock paper scissors element to the elements. It's not a huge deal most of the game, especially if you go for the story mode. I was trying that out on PC and it's very much easy. I don't think I took a single point of damage at all from that difficulty. So it's very accessible to younger players. I played normal on PS5 and it was balanced pretty well.
The game's health items work kind of like Dark Souls, as tired as comparisons of that are. In that you have X amount of health items and you restore the charges at a little HP fountain looking thing. I really like that as opposed to buying healing items or finding them. And you can unlock more for use later. On normal I barely had to heal at all. There's a lot of equipment to choose from when you're equipping things and a lot are also references to DC things. A lot is missed on me, as I'm not *that* familiar with DC comics but if you are there's clearly a lot of love and attention put into the game.
The voice actors are all really good for their roles. This is a licensed game deserving of a bit more love. It's really fun.
