Darkest Dungeon II: Inhuman Bondage Review (Transform)

While I quite enjoy the dlc, I find myself wondering how much of my enjoyment is simply the new mode (which is free and doesn't need the dlc). It's a rather strange conundrum where the free content is alot better than the dlc.
The dlc features a new mini area. The enemies are fine though it would have been nice to get an entire full area.
The other feature is Abomination. He's a fun hero though I find he's considerably more limited than the other heroes as he essentially has most of his skill so configurations matter alot less. I will say that he is far better designed than duelist and beautifully animated.
The dlc is just "Do you want abomination?". I assume most people do but that is really the only thing the dlc has going for it. The new mini area is incredibly underwhelming and I would not recommend buying the dlc at all if you don't want abomination.
In a FAQ the devs said that the dlc was essentially funding the free kingdoms mode, which I admire however it has left the paid dlc quite lacking. So far neither dlc for the game has been particularly interesting, they really need to add more interesting things to the game when you're not using the DLC heroes or simply just release the heroes as DLC (Which I don't think people would dislike since that's really what most people want, more heroes). There is also the factor that this DLC features one less hero than the previous but I think that's fine since abomination clearly required more work than most yet I would rather have had two heroes than the new mini area and abomination.
It's strange because while I don't actively dislike the DLC, I feel as though it should have a bit more content for the price. At the end of the day, this is a review for the DLC not for the quite excellent kingdoms mode. While I would love to meh the dlc, that's not an option so I'll have to not recommend it. The mini area is too underwhelming and abomination alone can't justify the entire DLC.
