Dark Souls III: The Ringed City Review (VladTheDad)
Fantastic DLC. It's also a significant upgrade from Ashes of Ariendel, which is a relief because that DLC was found lacking by many in terms of size. Some enemies are HARD even by Fromsoft standards and there are some extremely obnoxious spots in the first area (looking at you angels), but other than that the DLC is a great experience and features some of the best boss fights that Fromsoft has ever created. Gael in particular stands out as one of their all time best bosses for good reason, and lore wise is an extremely appropriate and satisfying ending to the trilogy of Dark Souls. I will sometimes play the entirety of DS3 literally just to fight Gael, the true final boss of Dark Souls.
I also appreciate how they added in a new covenant and enough interesting new equipment to keep the end game spicy and fresh, while also perhaps warranting some players to take their new equipment into NG+. The areas also have a very fresh and unique level design and I really appreciated the variety of new content and new enemies featured in the DLC. In some ways, it almost feels like a different, smaller game, rather than a mere extension of the base game.
If you have DS3 and liked it, then you need to get this.
