Dark Souls II: Crown of the Sunken King Review (Quindarious Gooch)
I feel like I'm stockholmed into giving this DLC a thumbs up because it's a DLC, but if this were a section of the base game it wouldn't be one I enjoy at all. The first bit is a spam of basic knight enemies with high poise, with it's only new thing being levels you hit to move platforms. The gank squad is here, and that bossfight as well as its runback are pure ass. After that you have to deal with knights that feel like they're straight out of Elden Ring with their combos and are invincible till you break their coffins, but it doesn't matter since you'll never be able to only take on one at a time. Afterwards you descend a tower with knights who are only a red color pallet away from being a boring invader to the bosses. The first was easy as hell, her gimmick seemed to be that she summoned little pigs. After that the dragon wasn't too bad, set for the fact that he could never stay out of the sky. Overall it's super mid because I like the aesthetic of the area, but it's held back by a lack of creative or fun gameplay.
