Cyber Hook Review (Zonorheso)

One of my favorite things about this game is how well its UI and functionality match the pace of the gameplay. I've found that most games with high-energy, fast-paced gameplay have everything else comparably slow: loading screens take forever, and they often force you to complete a level before you can retry, even if you know you're going to fail the time trial.
In other words, you were *so close* to beating the time trial, but you missed it by a couple seconds. Now you have to wait 2-3 minutes to try again, which is frustrating when the time you were trying to beat is only half a minute.
This game isn't like that. There is a dedicated button always available so you can instantly reset a level whenever you want. No pausing and selecting 'restart' (with the potential of misclicking), no waiting for it to load again, no sitting through the map preview all over again. You hit reset, then 3-2-1 go! You're right back on it. There is nothing about this game that interrupts your pace. If you were on a roll but then slightly mess up, you can restart instantly and keep that roll going. It's so satisfying and it's something I never realized about other race/time-trial games before.
Along with all that, the game has great replay value, a soundtrack that's an absolute bop, and simplistic yet vibrant visuals that are pure eye-candy. The time trials in each level are not hard stop points, so you can go at your own pace and take as long as you need to learn a level. It feels so rewarding whenever you figure out the trick to beating a level in time. It's like finding the shortcuts in a racing game, but there's no hidden doors you have to look for: it's just all open space, so you have to figure out the path yourself, making it all the more satisfying once you do.
TL;DR, this is one of the best games I've ever played, better than some triple A titles. The learning curve is perfect, and every aspect of this game actively supports you going at your own pace, while simultaneously fully supporting the "speedrun" playstyle.
