Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course Review (Good Guy Nick)
The Delicious Last Course is the much-awaited DLC for Cuphead.
It grants you access to 6 new bosses (plus a secret one), 3 new weapons and 3 new abilities. You also get a new playable character – Ms. Chalice.
I will not be reviewing most mechanics that were present in the main game, as I reviewed Cuphead here.

The new bosses are great. The amount of detail and care put into their designs is outstanding. I found every single one of them enjoyable but I must say that the plane battle against Esther Winchester is my favorite, followed by the final boss. There is, however, a secret boss that I found rather lame – it is not a hard battle but I felt like it was very messy and unfulfilling.
This DLC is rather challenging, as most bosses are worthy successors to the ones on Isle III from the base game (difficulty-wise).
The new weapons are good – while some are clearly more “niche”, some are very versatile and allow you to focus on movement while dealing solid damage.
The new abilities are also interesting – the most peculiar one is the Astral Cookie, which allows you to use Ms. Chalice, who has a new moveset!

Ms. Chalice cannot jump as high as Cuphead or Mugman, nor can she equip any abilities, but she has the ability to double jump. She also has a dodge roll which makes her completely invulnerable, but she must be on the ground to use it. Finally, her parry is included in her dash animation. I feel like she is balanced and has clear strengths and weaknesses.
It took me around 2 hours to really get used to her and enjoy the different playstyle.
As a side challenge, you will be able to complete the King’s Gauntlet, which has you defeat 5 chess-based fighters without weapons. The only way to damage them is with parries. These were wonderful and offered a nice change of pace.

Visually, this looks even better than the base game – backgrounds look terrific and the boss transitions are masterful.
The soundtrack is really great too – I have some of Cuphead’s tracks on a playlist and I added several more from this DLC.
It took me 11 hours to beat the whole DLC (achievements included) and I feel like it is totally worth the asking price. I honestly think my only gripe with the whole thing is the secret boss, everything else borders on flawless.
Final score: 9 out of 10.
