Crysis 2 Remastered Review (GalahideX)
Solid 8/10
Finished on Post-human Warrior in about 12 hrs
To start:
POV you are a marine, in a The Division 2 dollar's virus type of situation but more-so alien oriented, only, you're fighting both aliens, from Halo, or pmcs and you get to feel like you're Master Chief or even Doom guy while ripping and tearing all of them to ultimately bring back hope to humanity
***Pros***
-Immersive environment, plot, and playing as a main char who's part of the marines
SALUTE to the marines! They fight alongside you for several missions and just witnessing them with the most biggest cojones fighting crazy squid bois who have armor and weapons light years beyond theirs is admirable
You guys HAVE to check out the fallen Lady Liberty and the apocalyptic ruins of NYC. Everywhere you go has a reason for being the way it is. Even environmental destruction which happens often in the game looks so smooth! The game looks so beautiful even with medium/low graphics settings
*COUGH* we don't talk about the weird fleshy environments from the infected segments...
-THE SOUNDTRACK, it just hits you hard like a tidal wave full of emotions!!
The intro song alone and its many alternations further in the game drags you into the hopelessness of NYC, just close your eyes as you listen and envision being a poor infected civvie dying from a yet to be cured disease, watching as NY falls, watching in terror and helplessness as your loved ones die one by one by the very same disease you harbor
All the while, hoping that someone or something will save you and everyone else from such catastrophic horrors
-Gun designs and gunplay are satisfying and a lot more responsive and adjustable to whatever playstyle you go for
Did you notice the different reload animations you get when you're not in armor mode vs when you are? :)
-Cloaking exists with actual stealth takedowns AND you have armored mode! Truly an evolution from Crysis 1!
-The AI on Post-human warrior aren't on steroids like they were in Delta difficulty Crysis 1
-Bored of guns? Pickup any object and yeet them at your foes or even slide into them til they fall
***Cons***
-Fps drops in some cases of intense gunfight and places with lots of particles present (even on med/low graphics settings)
-Ally and enemy AI are wonky sometimes, they might glitch here and there by walking in place, spamming grenades at the wall or at themselves. I saw squidy bois stuck walking in circles and jumping back and forth from different platforms. Even saw Cell bois chucking nades at their own feet sometimes.
- (Maybe just a Post-human warrior issue?) A few of the guns feel underwhelming like the L-tag, Mk 60, and Grendel. Felt like L-tag's explosive power is weaker than the JAW and even normal grenades. Mk 60 sometimes feels like I'm spraying a water hose at squids and cell bois. Grendel's crazy recoil from burst firing and lack of damage to compensate is disappointing, but it is still one of my favorite weapons in this game.
-Stealth killing and grabbing enemies are wonky at times.
I would often sneak up behind enemies and press to stealth kill and the game sometimes makes me melee them normally...
Grabbing them sometimes breaks stealth/gets you detected or sometimes doesn't... well it's worth seeing the funny ragdoll physics I guess
