Crymachina Review (crystalized|fae)
Honestly my game of the year. A fantastic story that delves into the concept of consciousness and "being human" with characters that I fell in love with(as much as they fell in love with each other). Some of said concepts explored even gave me a sense of existential dread when I really stopped to process what was happening and imagined myself in the scenarios.
I played Crystar previously and enjoyed the story, but disliked the gameplay. This felt like a step in the right direction. It feels more like a proper action rpg and less like slapping mobs with a wet fish.
My biggest complaint is I wish the cutscenes had more movement to them, it feels pretty jarring when a character is having an emotional breakdown and everyone else is standing around just staring at them :/ It helps if you think of them like a visual novel but with 3d models, but I feel like I shouldn't have to make that justification.
All in all a phenomenal game. I cannot wait to see what the devs put out next!
