First off: this DLC was never 5 currency on its own! It was ... sorry, is that cheap because of the Chapter 1 bundle! here's the proof! As you can see, the total of these three prices is $34.43. And those are prices once Chapter 1 was on sale (which it is right now as of May 14, 2023 for $27.76 which means this DLC is even cheaper until May 18th! and it will go on sale again when the next Flavor pack comes out in a few months!) So you can get the LESS than 5 currency price RIGHT NOW. So yes, DO NOT BUY THIS (or any Paradox DLC) alone! They always come out with DLC packs for cheaper (which is probably why the initial prices of things are higher, so they can go on sale. You might think that's scummy but let me tell you about the price of your milk works!) Now onto the content added by this flavor pack!
As a flavor pack, this DLC isn't looking to change gameplay! What it adds is events, decisions, a few changes to religions to flesh out the Norse, and a few culture innovations to do the same. On top of that, Norsemen look like Norsemen now! Without this DLC, you would think the entire land to the east of England was a bunch of incestial farmers who annoying raid once in a while. The hair, beards, dress, crowns, and other general aesthetics added by this DLC are a great, almost must-have, addition to the overall feel of the game.
As it is an asset pack, it is not essential to enjoy the game but definitely adds to the game! I wish I could show the bad reviewers and their supporters the difference between the game with and without the DLC. They clearly weren't paying attention to the Norse appearance, culture, religion, or never played as a Norseman to see the lack of Events and Decisions that were specific to them! I would love to pin this review to the top to help with the current misunderstanding of this DLC. Again, nothing mind blowing but definitely worth it for gamers with hundreds of hours in this game!
