Crusader Kings III: Legacy of Persia Review (ChaChaRealSmooth)

This is such a cool idea for a DLC, but in my opinion, its done in a incredibly niche scale. Sure, it makes playing in Persia way more fun (With some serious balancing issues) however my only complaint is that it is really, really small.
Its specific to the 867 start date, meaning that those looking for a more flavourful expansion set in the High Medieval period aren't going to find much here. It also revamps Zoroastrianism (Nightmare to spell right) but it doesn't do much for the Muslim faith, which is a huge part, in fact a way larger part than Zoroastrianism with its impact on the medieval world. There is no special cultures to be made when the mongols invade, no real benefits to siding with the Caliph, apart from a now incredibly powerful empire on your border. There's also no real incentive to go against the Caliph or even well... end the struggle. With the Iberian struggle there was a real sense or urgency to unite Spain under your rule, in this case however I literally can just wait for the timer ticks out and then continue playing like a normal clan ruler (With the really cool new mechanic of clan unity, which I like by the way). You can use the conquest war goal without worrying about Turkic invaders or them suddenly having a spike in men for no reason, not like mercs either.
To elaborate on the Clan system, it is slightly unbalanced at the moment since I find it a lot more favourable to be antagonistic as a small family, once you build up your empire to be huge then swing it towards being friendly. its really easy to bypass the challenge of managing your inheritance, one of the hardest things to deal with... This doesn't just apply for Persia either, this is all clans! Clans now either thrive or struggle, the AI cannot manage the antagonistic succession and expands painfully slowly when its friendly.
It is still a cool system though, and it feeds into the euphoria-like larp of being an evil Persian tyrant or a kind and caring ruler towards his people and family.
My final gripe with the DLC is something I mentioned at the start, its really, really small. I cannot stress this enough- Do not buy this on its own! Buy it when the chapter II expansion pack is on sale, personally I bought chapter II as soon as it was announced because I'm a cuck for paradox I can't lie, but I got really got blue-balled with this one. It is not worth £10.99 (Not sure what that is in $), this feels more like a small expansion pack... its a bad comparison but sort of like a Roblox gamepass, its cool to play around with for like 10 minutes, but once you grow up a little bit and give it some time it just gets boring and feels wasteful, like throwing bricks into a river at Venice.
The soundtrack is really good though, this shit slaps harder than the Northern lords OST did. That's probably just because I love middle-eastern music and the culture.
TL;DR
Buy it when it goes on sale for a something special, I'm young enough to not pay taxes yet but if you are getting taxed then go buy something useful or take a girl out or something, buy yourself this for a treat or something when its on sale. Otherwise, save your money.
