Company of Heroes 3: Fire & Steel Review (Vichunt_st)
It is pricey for 4 battlegroups, but I consciously made that choice. Firstly, to support the developers. I have played the game since the release and I see a great difference: the developers did not abandon the game and incorporated so much community feedback and quality of life improvements. The game is just enjoyable to play, I really see no problem. What I do see is more and more skilled players coming in, so I think I am not the only one appreciating the progress. Secondly, in this game nobody is forcing you to buy anything. I have 4 previously released battlegroups completely for free and I did not even put special effort to earn them. Apart from that, the basic bettlegroups included in the game are very solid: I see no issue just playing with them and thats it. So I respect that nobody is pushing DLC as a must have to play. Thirdly, at this point in time the game - in my opinion, of course - is better that COH2. It is much much better balanced, the visibility of gameplay and quality of life also put it one step ahead definitely. Some people complain there is not enough content, meaning not enough battlegroups compared to COH2 commanders. But truth be told, there were 3-5 good commanders per faction and initially there were only 2 factions. Whereas in this game there are 4 factions by fedault and all of the battlegroups are interesting, usable and have their place in the game. Lastly, these new battlegroups are also interesting and fun, and it is great to see new heavy armour in the game! My favourite is the crocodile tank, as I miss the flamethrower KV from COH2. And Elephant is a forgotten classic, used to be much more popular back in the COH2 days. With that, you can have two heavies on Afrikakorps: Tiger (always available) and Elephant.
Overall, if you are new to the game - take your time to discover it better, there is no need for this dlc for you. But if you are already in and looking for new things, this one has something in stock for you.
